I want to share with you some exciting news.
First, a little background: I’m a pretty pragmatic person – years of working in TV do that to you! I know just how remote the chances are of getting someone interested enough in an idea to persuade their company to invest in it.
So when I started to put together a book proposal early last year, I knew it would be a long shot and I was ok with that. After months of ploughing away, I started my PhD and put all my focus into my research. Then, miraculously, a few agents expressed an interest in the idea, and even more miraculously, so did some publishers.
So there it is, I’m now represented by the fantastic Watson, Little Ltd and am still having to pinch myself that I have signed a deal with John Murray Publishers. The book is about the crazy events of the mid-1660s and is provisionally titled ‘1666: Plague, War and Hellfire’. It will be released next year. Naturally, I am both thrilled and terrified.
I hope you like it!
